The pike becomes carnivorous when he reaches 8 centimeters. Interesting fact, he can't be confused with other fishes because he has some easily identifiable characteristics which are a lengthened body, a jaw in the shape of duck nozzle and 700 teeth inside the mouth as well as eyes located rather high on the head. The 3 fins of the pike make him be propelled at a high speed. The pike is then one of the fastest fishes on short distance. The pike prefers slow rivers and ponds but we can find him in brooks, estuaries and in the Baltic sea. Fact to remember, this fish cannot live in a medium low in oxygen or an acid water. Frequent phenomenon with fishes, cannibalism does not save the pikes which do not hesitate to eat themselves when food is rarely found.
Anecdote : One fisherman have fished a female albino pike.
